When kids get into the habit of reading for fun, it can lead to a lifelong love of books. The City Library has three reading programs for all ages. You can track progress, win prizes, and discover the magic that exists on every page.
Sign up in person at any City Library. You'll receive a reading journal you can personalize and keep as a memento of your reading journey. You can also go paperless by signing up for an online reading log at slcpl.beanstack.org.
Prepare your little one for kindergarten through the world of books. Reading is a fun and easy way for parents and caregivers to interact with their young children. This program invites you to read 1,000 books during the first five years of your child's life. For each milestone you reach in your journey (100, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 books), you will receive a prize.
20 for 20 is a year-round reading challenge for kids and teens. All there is to do is read for 20 minutes, 20 times... and earn prizes in the end!
Ask a Librarian for a tracker sheet and more details. Kids and teens can complete the challenge as many times as they like — never stop reading!
