3D printing is a process where a machine creates a physical object layer by layer from a digital 3D model file.

1. Submit 3D Print Request Form
   • Fill out the form and upload your 3D file.
2. File Check
   • Our team reviews your file to make sure it can be printed. We look for common issues like holes, very thin parts, or incorrect size. If anything needs adjustment or if you need to submit a different file, we will contact you.
3. Slicing the Model
   • We use specialized software to “slice” your model into hundreds (or thousands) of thin layers.At this stage, we also choose settings like detail level, print speed, and whether supports are needed.
4. Printing Begins
   • We set up the printer and start your print. The printer builds your object layer by layer. Printing time can range from a few hours to longer, depending on the size and complexity.
5. Print Complete
   • Once your print is finished, we’ll email you with instructions on how to pick it up.
6. Post-Processing
   • Some prints have extra material (called supports) that help them print correctly. You can remove these using tools available in the Creative Labs.

We currently limit prints to one object per person, per month. If you have multiple items, please choose the one you’d like to print most. You’re welcome to submit another request the following month.

You can use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to build your own 3D models. Different tools are suited for different types of projects:

• Sculpting: organic shapes like people, animals, or terrain
  • SculptGL: A simple tool that lets you shape a model like digital clay.
  • Blender: A powerful, free program for sculpting, animation, and more.
• Parametric Design: precise, measured objects like tools or parts
  • FreeCAD: Great for dimension-based designs and technical models.
• Hard-Surface Modeling: structured objects like buildings or vehicles
  • TinkerCAD: Easy to use and ideal for beginners; great for editing existing files.
• Photogrammetry or Laser Scanning: create models from real-world objects using photos
  • AliceVision: Turns photos into 3D models without specialized equipment.

Unfortunately, no. We do not have a 3D scanner available. We recommend searching free 3D model libraries for similar objects and modifying them using a CAD program.

Our staff cannot repair or modify 3D models. If your file has issues, we'll let you know and ask you to either submit a different file or fix and resubmit your original design.

3D prints can take several hours to prepare and complete. We process requests in the order they are received. Most prints are ready within two weeks.

Our service is limited by print time rather than object size. Staff will "slice" your model and do their best to fit it within our time limits, which may affect its size or density. Please make sure your object is scaled correctly before submitting (using a CAD program such as TinkerCAD). Our 3D Printer’s maximum build volume is 250mm x 210mm x 220mm.

We use FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) printers and print with PLA (polylactic acid). PLA is a biodegradable plastic made from renewable resources like corn starch or sugarcane. It works well for prototypes and decorative items and offers good strength, accuracy, and stability.

No, we do not allow outside filament. If you're interested in printing with other materials (such as carbon fiber, resin, or nylon), consider using a commercial 3D printing service.

Yes. We will not print objects that are illegal, unsafe, or harmful to others in the shared public space. Please also respect copyright and licensing restrictions when submitting designs.
